She has been in private practice since 1985. Her love of dance,
her fascination with anatomy and movement, and her sincere interest
and talent in helping others through problem-solving is what brought
her to chiropractic and continues to motivate her today.
Dr. Alden uses a team approach with the patient in providing
care. Patient education is essential in solving problems and getting
people better. The more you know what caused the injury and how
to correct or strengthen the area, the faster the healing rate
tends to be. She sees her role as an investigator of problems,
a provider of care, and as an educator. Your role is taking responsibility
in your own health care by following recommendations and making
necessary changes to encourage maximum healing rates or minimizing
further injury. When she finds your needs are best served by other
practitioners, appropriate referrals are made.
Over the course of her career Dr. Alden has acquired extensive
experience and education in sports chiropractic, ergonomics and
injury prevention, exercise rehabilitation, biomechanical assessment,
and worker’s compensation issues. She works with the UC-Berkeley
Women’s Tennis Team and with various individual athletes
who are referred to her from the Cal athletic department. She
has treated professional athletes at the 2000 US Olympic Trials,
the 2001 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, and the 2001
IAAF World Indoor Championships in Lisbon, Portugal. In the past
she served as a state appointed Qualified Medical Evaluator for
the worker’s compensation Industrial Medical Council. As
an Injury Prevention Specialist for over ten years, both independently
and with Future Industrial Technologies, she has trained thousands
of employees in a wide variety of job activities on how to performs
their jobs more safely.
