Janice
Alden, D.C., C.C.S.P. is the owner of Alden Chiropractic,
Inc. She co-founded The Working Body in June of 2000 as a way
to provide the best available integrated health, fitness, and
physical rehabilitation care in the bay area. She is a Certified
Chiropractic Sports Physician, Applied Kinesiologist, and Graston
Technique and Craniosacral Practitioner.
She has been in private
practice since 1985. Her love of dance, her fascination with
anatomy and movement, and her sincere interest and talent in
helping others through problem-solving is what brought her to
chiropractic and continues to motivate her today.
Dr. Alden uses a team
approach with the patient in providing care. Patient education
is essential in solving problems and getting people better.
The more you know what caused the injury and how to correct
or strengthen the area, the faster the healing rate tends to
be. She sees her role as an investigator of problems, a provider
of care, and as an educator. Your role is taking responsibility
in your own health care by following recommendations and making
necessary changes to encourage maximum healing rates or minimizing
further injury. When she finds your needs are best served by
other practitioners, appropriate referrals are made.
Over the course of
her career Dr. Alden has acquired extensive experience and education
in sports chiropractic, ergonomics and injury prevention, exercise
rehabilitation, biomechanical assessment, and worker’s
compensation issues. She works with the UC-Berkeley Women’s
Tennis Team and with various individual athletes who are referred
to her from the Cal athletic department. She has treated professional
athletes at the 2000 US Olympic Trials, the 2001 USA Indoor
Track and Field Championships, and the 2001 IAAF World Indoor
Championships in Lisbon, Portugal. In the past she served as
a state appointed Qualified Medical Evaluator for the worker’s
compensation Industrial Medical Council. As an Injury Prevention
Specialist for over ten years, both independently and with Future
Industrial Technologies, she has trained thousands of employees
in a wide variety of job activities on how to performs their

Cramblett, PT, CSCS

and youth
Education:
Bachelors in exercise
Physiology and Physical therapy
Certification:

- Spinning Instructor
- Master Personal Fitness Trainer
- Certified Weight Trainer
Experience:
10 years as a PT,
15 years cycling, 20 years weight training including power
lifting, and wresting, and recovery from various disc injuries
Testimonial:
It is with great
pleasure that I write this letter regarding my personal trainer,
Curtis Cramblett.
I am a retired fire
fighter and professional motivational speaker. I left the
fire service five years ago after an injury from an automobile
accident left me unable to walk for over a year. After a great
deal of treatment, I had rehabilitated to a point that doctors
felt was acceptable. However, I did not find it acceptable.
I could not walk without pain, could not stand straight, and
had a very weak neck and shoulders. I couldn't run or bike,
and sitting, driving or standing for periods of time left
me in greater pain.
I spent my entire
career in top physical condition, and knew that it was possible
to return to a better condition than I was. So I started asking
around if there were any personal trainers that could work
miracles. And then I found Curtis.
Curtis' professional
manner and his personal interest in my success gave me the
confidence to believe that I could improve. His attention
to my condition and knowledge of exactly the correct motions,
exercises, stretches, diet, therapies, equipment and treatments
made a program that I could follow and see results.
I've had many people
over the years try to "'tailor make" a program for
me, but they still gave me the template exercises that could
be found in any book. Curtis demonstrates that he understands
what is right for me, and created a program that really is
right for me.
Now I am running,
biking, hiking, snowshoeing, sledding, skiing, able to drive,
sit and stand for hours without abnormal discomfort, and feeling
and looking great (especially for an old woman!) In fact,
sometimes I think my husband appreciates Curtis even more!
Curtis has my utmost
respect and highest regard as a professional, and absolutely
has my recommendation as the best. Please feel free to contact
me if you'd like to hear more about my personal trainer.

Kelly attended the
Hawaiian Islands School of Body Therapies where she studied
medically-based massage techniques including Lomi Lomi, Myofascial
Release, CranioSacral Therapy (Level 1), Reflexology, Thai,
pregnancy massage, Swedish, Lymphatic, and deep tissue sports
techniques.
Kelly brings an intuitive
sense of touch to her massage sessions. She often uses Lomi
Lomi massage (loosely translated from the Hawaiians as “loving
hands massage”) with gentle, continuous, flowing strokes
to nurture the body and increase vitality. These long, continuous
strokes all flow toward the heart, opening the heart center.
According to traditional Hawaiian beliefs, Lomi Lomi massage
works on many levels, enabling healing to occur spiritually,
mentally, and emotionally.
Since 2003, Kelly
has been practicing massage therapy. Her clients range
from people just wanting to maintain health, to clients seeking
postsurgical care, and to athletes. In particular, anyone
seeking stress management for auto-immune diseases, cancer,
and even weight loss.
Massage can facilitate
transformation of the body, mind, and spirit by releasing old
habits/toxins, balancing the endocrine system, and easing the
nervous system and muscles.

www.urbanwildfitness.com
510-918-4280
Competitive, determined,
intelligent, driven, focused, funny, energetic, outgoing, strong,
motivated.....
Those are some of
the ways people describe Alison in all aspects of her life...Born
and raised in Eugene, Oregon, she grew up running through the
woods, waterskiing, playing soccer, softball, basketbal, and
other organized sports. When she was 8 she began running local
5k road races, but it wasn't until high school that she found
her true love and passion in track and field. Alison ran the
800 meters in 2:06 and pole-valulted 12'6 for her high school
and on the Junior Olympic level, solidifyling herself as one
of the top female athletes in her region. Growing up in Track
Town USA, Alison dreamed of running track for the University
of Oregon and her hometown crowd. Unfortunatley, Alison broke
her back while pole-vaulting, ending her track and field career
her freshman year in college. It was this event that led Alison
to where she is today. She began training other athletes, helping
them prepare for all levels of competition from middle school
to professional athletics; giving them guidance with nutrition,
cardiovascular, and strength training. While her passion will
always be in athletics, she wanted to touch the lives of more
people and began training more of the general population; helping
people lose weight/gain weight, rehabilitate from injuries,
overcome eating disorders through excercise, ensure healthy
pregnancies, combat osteoporosis and other age related issues,
and general health and fitness. Alison believes everyone is
an athlete on some level and infuses her many years of training
as an elite athlete into each and every workout.
When Alison is not
training both athletes and the general population clientele
through private sessions, body sculpting classes, and her boot
camp in the San Francisco bay area, Alison volunteers her time
at local middle schools and high schools as a track ad field/cross
country coach. In addition to this Alison founded a non-profit
in Cost Rica. She trains a group of 35 aspiring young athletes
ages 5-16 in a small rural town on the Caribbean coast of Cost
Rica.

Judy Simons - Pilates Trainer
Remaining loyal to
her dance teachers in San Francisco for 28 years, Judy has solid
dance experience in the style of modern jazz blues. She also
practices yoga regularly. Her formal education is in psychology
and educational psychology (B.A. UC Berkeley, M.A. CSUH). Judy
also studied and worked in the field of Dance/Movement Therapy
in the early 1980s. During her time working as a student counselor
at UC Berkeley, Judy started taking on-campus Pilates mat classes
in the 1990s and fell in love with the Pilates method of exercise.
She became a regular in the class for years, and occasionally
had private sessions with the instructor. Upon the instructors
retirement from the university Pilates classes, fellow students
and classmates of hers encouraged her to begin teaching so she
decided to get her Pilates Mat certification. Judy received
her Pilates mat certification through ITT Pilates and has been
teaching the class twice weekly for the past five years. She
has continued training through ITT, and became a certified Pilates
personal trainer a couple of years ago. During her training,
she did most of her observation, practice teaching & personal

Diego
Schmunis
Personal Trainer
510.332.1272
diego@trainerdiego.com
http://www.trainerdiego.com
Diego’s
training methodology:
Diego’s training
methodology is based on my “PER-FORM” approach to
training. He emphasizes PERFECT FORM (i.e. quality) over endless
sets (i.e. quantity). Having perfect form when lifting weights
is important for two reasons: 1) If you don’t do the exercises
with the correct movements or technique then you won’t
be able to stress the muscle in the most efficient way to induce
a positive physical adaptation. 2) Sooner or later you will
get injured.
Diego’s
teaching approach:
He has been teaching
and instructing a variety of subjects for most of my life. In
this time, he came to learn and understand that not everyone
learns the same way. As a teacher, one can not teach in the
way that one wants to teach, but we have to do it in a way that's
best for our students to learn from. As such, he combines all
the different learning styles (by doing, by watching, by listening
or a mix of these three) and find creative ways with which best
teach you the fundamentals of weight training and how to lead
a more balanced, fit and healthy life.

Experience:

Bio:
Patty Torza has been
involved in the Fitness business since 1973, and has been counseling
people in the Nutrition business since 1998. Her approach
to fitness is client goal-oriented, motivating, fun, and focuses
on functional training (teaching people how to move as they
do in every day life). Her clients see results!
Posture assessment and attention to this important piece of
fitness is emphasized. In 2002, Patty began her formal
education at Bauman College for Holistic Nutrition. She
graduated in 2004 with a certification as a Nutrition Consultant
and has been counseling clients ever since. Her approach
to nutrition is through whole foods, those foods found ‘just

have led us to the many degenerative diseases that we are seeing
today, especially refined carbohydrates. She designs customized
nutrition programs that support her client’s goals as
well as their unique and individual needs. She also does
group lectures on various nutrition topics.
Testimonial:
Patty Torza has been

made herself an indispensable part of my life. As a teacher
and coach, Patty intuitively knows how to strike a balance between
being tough and being nurturing; she has inspired me to work

with herself and clear in her communication with me. While
very focused and serious about our sessions, she also has a
wonderful sense of humor that makes me laugh even in the middle
of a “crunch”!
Although I didn’t
know Patty during her years of formal study, I have seen how
her intellectual curiosity leads her to read widely and conduct
research in the areas of greatest interest. Over these
past years, she has been sharing with me information she has
learned in the field of nutrition, about which she is passionate.
She is highly self-motivated, and an excellent student
of fitness and nutrition.
The best teachers
teach by example , and Patty exemplifies this maxim. She
lives her life in a way that supports her beliefs and the principles
that she upholds. She strives for an integrated, holistic
lifestyle in which body, mind and spirit are intertwined and
exercised. She participated in the 2002 AIDS/Lifecycle
bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, a testament
to her physical strength and the generosity of her spirit.
Whether training at the gym, biking, or preparing whole foods
meals, Patty treats her body with the respect of the true athlete.
Patty was born to
be in the fitness and nutrition fields and is a natural in helping
others achieve their goals.
